Email Campaigns and or Social media marketing or online marketing campaigns might generate a spike in site traffic (Yes good for AdSense revenue), but this doesn’t mean you build a relationship with your viewers or customers.
This is important in Product/Concept/Service Marketing. You must have 1:1s (one-on-one meeting) and should build strategies to develop Engagement with your customers. If your business is just intangible-blogging, then you concentrate only on AdSense. That is fine. ( as I do on my site-but I am also a product and service marketer-that is why I share you this topic for your benefit. )
You cannot underestimate people’s ability to spot a soulless bureaucratic tactic a million miles away. It’s a big reason why so many companies that have dipped a toe in social media waters have failed miserably.
There is a difference between ENGAGEMENT and INTEREST.
INTEREST is piqued in a number of ways, many of which are less than genial. It often begins and ends on a superficial level because the primary emotion tapped are curiosity, surprise or disgust.
ENGAGEMENT occurs on a deeper level when a person’s core values are tapped. Common to all core values is the notion of being considered worthy of relationship. When you engage another in a friendly manner, you convey to him he is someone worthy of friendship, someone whom you’d like to call friend. It is for this reason “he who sows courtesy reaps friendship”. Engagement is heartfelt or it won’t work.
Successful leaders are always initiators.
Friendliness begets Friendliness.
Engagement begets Trust. Trust is to be protected just as much as the air we breathe or the water we drink.
